Hi everyone! I have always loved pretty dishes. How about you? When I was in college, my roommates bought me a four-piece placesetting of these (the blue foral Asian dishes) and I bought myself another. These dishes could tell many stories of happy Chinese meals eaten throughout the years. I used them HERE when I just began blogging last year.
There's a blowing wind and really cold temperatures outside so a warming Chinese food sounds good tonight. We are having homemade egg rolls and stir fry. My husband is a huge fan of stir-fry and, in his ideal world, he would like to eat it five nights a week; my kids are not such huge fans. Here is the individual placesetting.

It's such a pretty light and airy, pattern. The rice bowls are also decorated inside the bowl.
A lovely tea set came along in the pattern. We are more hot chocolate drinkers, but I just love the tea cups.
Here's an angled view of the plates. The chopstick rests are so cute and convenient. Don't worry, I have included flatware also!
When I use bubble glasses, I always include a picture of them. I like the look of the bubble glasses and the silver candlesticks.
A shot of the full table.
A side shot of the table. I like using the little sauce dishes -- so tiny and petite.
Ooops, I forgot to put the napkins on!
The egg rolls are hot and ready to eat.
Yum! Let the feasting begin! Four on a plate must mean it's my teenage son's plate!
Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

ReplyDeleteI love to go to Chinatown to look at the dishes in the store windows - so many beautiful variations on the blue and white theme.
I not only love that you started this wonderful pattern in college, I love that you continue to use them today. Thank you for sharing your lovely design. Cherry Kay

Not only fabulous Chinese food, but the tableware to make it even more authentic and fun! Yes, I love pretty dishes too! Happy Chinese New Year, Joni!
ReplyDeleteYour dishes are beautiful Joni! Egg rolls are a favorite here too! I deep fry mine so I only make them once a year, kind of makes us look forward to them that much more-enjoy:@)
ReplyDeleteI love those dishes. They are so very different from the color pattern that I usually see used for Asian tables. You're right that they just feel airy. You had VERY nice college roommates, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm with the husband. I rarely get tired of stir fry, and egg rolls are a favorite too.
Love this -- I repeated a CHinese New Year table from last year. Those silver candlesticks from Target are fabulous -- I had to go back and look again.
ReplyDeleteLove this, you set the prettiest tables Joni! Chinese is a favorite of ours yet I have no dishes to properly serve the cuisine. I guess I need to go shopping, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteI have those chargers and love them!! You make me want to do Chinese tonight! Thanks, Joni, anne

ReplyDeleteIt truly is a light and airy table, and your serving pieces are just gorgeous, so pretty and delicate. I love the little sauce dishes too, they just almost seem like little pretend dishes. I can't wait to get your egg roll recipe, which I am sure we will see tomorrow. I am with your son, I would take 4 also.
ReplyDeleteThe dishes are so sweet. I love the simple pattern on the white. Beautiful table.
ReplyDeleteJoni, your chinese new year table is beautiful. I love rice bowls and yours are unique. The egg rolls look yummy and I think it is so true--4 on one plate means the boys are at the table! You even have the teapot for your set! Very nice. Linda
ReplyDeleteJoni, your dishes are wonderful and perfect for Chinese. I love it that you got these when you were in college. I was buying dishes then too. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI guess it's a long history of the dish habit. Wish I had a plate of those egg rolls right now, even though it's time for bed here. I'm hungry!
