April Fool's Day is Friday! For years I have been doing something sneaky to surprise my children on April Fool's Day. Last year the Mock Sushi at the head of my post was a bit hit with my kids and it did fool them for a moment and it is delicious and such a simple treat to make!
This year I made Mock Meatloaf with a bit of ketchup on the side; I am saving it for a special someone to fool; I have the perfect victim in mind! It is also simple, delicious and inexpensive (about $3.00) to make.
Mock Meatloaf Recipe
Adapted from a Family Fun Magazine recipe.
12 cup chocolate rice cereal -- I used Cocoa Puffs.
2 - 10 ounce package marshmallows
6 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
Note: If you have a small bread loaf pan, you can cut the recipe in half.
Fool Someone you love with Mock Meat Loaf or Mock Sushi on April Fool's Day!

ReplyDeleteYou prankster! Mock meat loaf is such a clever April fools day trick! But a sweet one at that, eating dessert first sounds like a win win to me!

ReplyDeleteVery tricky, Joni. Looks so realistic too:) A couple of years ago I made meatloaf "cupcakes" with mashed potato frosting:)

ReplyDeleteHow funny! I think I am going to do this on my kids! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a cute idea!
ReplyDeleteThis made me giggle. It does look just like meatloaf, and what a fun idea. I have a prankster uncle who lives alone now. This would be a great April Fools trick to play on him with the added treat of something good to eat.
ReplyDeleteThis will be a great joke to play on our 11 year old Grandson! He loves Nana's meatloaf and he won't even look twice before gobbling this...I'll have to keep the camera closeby!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so fun. It really does look like meatloaf, especially with the ketchup on the side.
ReplyDeleteI remember your mock sushi. That would be perfect for my boys. We had to go out for sushi for the last birthday. Too funny and something they will always remember. You are such a fun mom.
Prety clever, sneaky idea, I love it. Thanks for all your homemade posts.
