Love is in the Air!

Welcome to Red Couch Recipes to my Love is in the Air Tablescape!

Love was in the air for me almost 24 years ago when my husband and I married on February 12.  Our whole wedding was built upon a Valentine's theme.  We were living in the foothills of Northern California and cut down two manzanita trees, painted them white, and decorated them with red hearts.  The decorated manzanita trees really did look beautiful lit up at night at the wedding reception.  I still have some of the hearts that adorned those trees.

My sister Jacqueline, a.k.a. Dish Fairy, gave me these heart dishes last year after Valentine's Day.  I love them!  I got the idea for the name Dish Fairy from Tricia, Dull and Dutiful Blog, who calls her sister the Dish Fairy.

Take another look at the clean and simple heart-shaped dishes.

These are the cookies that I made for my family, and then made more dough for my Activity Day Girls (church girls) to make when they came to my house today.  They are so fun and Valentiney.  You can click HERE for the recipe and technique I used.

The ruby goblets are King's Crown, another gift from the Dish Fairy.  My Aunt Ionia had a set like these and always used them at Christmas.  I think it was these goblets that started my love for pretty dishes.  The bowls are from Michael's last year.

A side view of the tablesetting.

I have used these happy plaid napkins on lots of tables as well as the cream napkin rings.  I purchased the napkin rings from Karin at the Style Sisters.  She is back blogging after her big move.  Stop in and say welcome back.

I love the look of clear glass on a table!

I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's with those you love.  My father always gave his children  a heart-shaped box full of chocolates.  I have such fond memories of Valentine's Day though the years, and we would have been married on Valentine's Day, but it fell on a Sunday the year we were married.

Thanks for dropping by Red Couch Recipes.

Love is certainly in the air! Happy Anniversary - for #24! We were just talking about that with me flying 3 weeks before your due date.

The table is so pretty and that Dish Fairy is so much fun! Does she do that just so she can buy more dishes and get away with it? I bought Shaunna and Lindsay glasses yesterday!

I love your little Love sign. It is so cute decked out in stripes. The Kings Crown goblets are beautiful with it too. Have a wonderful day and a wonderful anniversary.

Hi Joni,

Such a cute table! I love your Kings Crown goblets...I've got the tumblers and they are some of my favorites. My brother has some that he bought at an estate sale and he believed the guy who told him they were 17th century! Uh, yeah, right, whatever. I never have the heart to tell him they're old but they aren't that old! He's so proud of his! lol oh well.
Happy Anniversary to you!

Nancy

Happy Anniversary! What a nice memory you have of your father giving you candy. My best friend's husband has been giving his daughter roses for V day as long as I can remember (and she's 26 now!). I like the simple lines of your dishes.

Well, of course you had a Valentine wedding. It's just perfectly "you". Happy Anniversary in advance, just in case you don't post again between now and Sunday. The table is wonderful. My "dish fairy" hoards her dishes at her house but will let me borrow them so it's almost as good. I love King's Crown goblets so much and try to find them in various colors. I don't have any red ones. Yours are smashing.

Beautiful tablescape...love all of the red and white and the heart shaped dishes. You're so lucky that you have a "dish fairy" sister to share the fun with. You two certainly do have fun!! Happy Valentine's Day!
