A Matter of Marketing

It's really just a little matter of marketing, isn't it?   Recently, someone near my home had a "junk sale."  To advertise the sale, they put the little vehicle on the busy intersection near my home with the handpainted sign advertising their "junk sale."

A few days later, the same people decided to market their sale with a new professional sign saying "Estate Sale" and an American flag.

Would you rather stop by a junk sale or an estate sale?  It's just a matter of marketing.

Thanks for dropping by my Red Couch.

I'm not too discriminating - I'd probably screech to a stop at both!

Honestly, I would probably be more inclined to go to the junk sale with the hand-lettered sign. I figure the deals would be better because they don't know and/or appreciate the treasures that they have to sell!

Speaking of.. went to an estate sale this afternoon and got 12 linen never been used napkins for 5.00; two snowbabies for the collector in our family .. and this most wonderful epergne!! So yes the estate sale for the good stuff, but certainly would not pass up the junk sale either..
Estate sales just mean higher prices !! happy sunday, many blessings, marlis

I am definitely more tempted by an estate sale - sounds like it is going to be more than junk! You will have to ask them how it went. The cute vehicle is really funny.

Hmmm....I think I'm more inclined to go to the junk sale, agreeing with Vicki's comment above...but I do think estate sounds nicer...I think I'd expect to pay more at an estate sale too because so many of them, at least around here, are run by professional companies. Either way, the truck sure is cute and is an attention grabber all by itself!

Did you go?

Estate does have a much better connotation than Junk - LOL! Those are great pictures, Joni :)

This is so interesting. I might go for the junk sale thinking it would be cheaper. But the estate sale tells me there would be nicer things. Either way, it looks like they painted the truck between adverts!

I bet you can find a lot of junk at estate sales. Snobby people would prefer the estate sale I guess! I would go to either. At least the junk sale you don't have high expectations!I used to go to a warehouse called The County Dump. They used to buy odd lots. Sometimes the lots would be from upscale catalogs. Then you would see all the BMW's and Mercedes in the parking lot. I ran into someone who was horrified I saw her there!
I don't know, I would rather go to the WSonoma Outlet and pay at least half of what it is in the main store. Guess I am stupid! :)
