Cliff Jumping Summer

Talley at the waterfall.

Hi Everyone, here at the Red Couch, we do other things besides cooking and baking.  I decided to show you one of the things that we have been up to this summer.  WOOO --- HOOO...it's so much fun!  Our family is composed of "water dogs!"  A cheap thrill for me is swimming in a clean lake!  In my youth, I have fond memories of  swimming at Devil's Lake and Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin.  This summer, my kids have discovered cliff jumping in two different locations.  My favorite is a spot where you jump into the pool of a waterfall!

Tati at the waterfall.

Talley at the Lake.  It was our first visit and we had no swimsuits...did that stop them?  No!

Skyler at the Lake doing the intermediate jump.  The water levels have lowered and now it is not safe to jump the intermediate jump.

Words of Caution:  We have had a lot of fun jumping this summer, but it can be very dangerous if you don't check the water depth where you are jumping.  Water levels vary greatly so rocks that have been covered by deep water, can, in just a few weeks, be uncovered!  In Utah, reservoirs are full at the beginning of summer and as water is used for irrigation and home use, they lower.  A spot we had just jumped at three weeks ago has gone down by five or six feet, making the intermediate jump (and high) not safe!

I am posting this with the following:
I am posting this with Summer Sundays, because our family is all about water in the summer.

Wow - that looks like a lot of fun! People like to do cliff jumping here too, but many tourists, especially from abroad, don't take the precautions you outlined, and there are accidents.
Nothing beats that 'I'm flying' feeling!

When I think that I used to do this....We have jumpers here at the lake. You have to know what you are doing.

Have a great weekend.

Looks like everyone is having a great time! I learned as a boat person to always respect the water, wise to post the warnings!

I am too afraid of heights to jump! When my family was in Hawaii last summer, they were all jumping off the "rocks" at Waimea, but not me:)

BTW, your panini sandwich looks scrumptious!

What a fun spot. We need to come and do this with you! Loved the pics of the kids still in their clothes. I guess we should always have towels in the backs of our cars, just in case fun comes and tempts us!

Oh that water looks so gorgeous. I would have done this when I was younger...I'd be scared to death now!

That sure looks scary!! I am not a risk taker~I like pools where my feet can touch the bottom! However, the scenery is gorgeous. I've actually been to Lake Winnebago, if it is the one I think is between Oshkosh and FonduLac (spelling?) or I could be making it up--my excuse for memory issues. Thanks for coming to visit and commenting. ♥♫

Looks like fun, but you do have to know the depth of that water. Glad you all play it safe. Keep on having fun and staying cool! ~ Sarah
