Sesame-Honey Grilled Chicken

This week I did a "Book and Cook" on the book "In the Neighborhood The Search for Community on an American Street, One Sleepover at a Time."  You can click on it HERE to view.  I had the privilege of the author, Peter Lovenheim, making a comment, albeit short, on my blog!  I was so glad to know that he had read how much I enjoyed his book!  How often do you get to tell someone, and know that they read your communication, that you enjoyed their book! Today I would like to tell another Food Blogger how much I enjoy their site!

Today I bring to you a recipe from "Food from the Hood."  "Food from the Hood" are recipes that I have seen on other food bloggers posts that looked so yummy that I wanted to make them.  Before I became a food blogger, I was a food gawker/stalker.  One of the websites that I frequented was Heart N Soul Cooking.  Heart N Soul Cooking is written by a mother and grandmother from Albuquerque, New Mexico who used to win blue ribbons at fairs for her good cooking.  The first fair she entered, she won three blue ribbons for her sweets  I just noticed that Heart N Soul Cooking's blog seems to be on hiatus.  Hopefully, she will be able, in the near future, to begin blogging and bringing us wonderful recipes, and photos, of her baking and cooking. The sauce on this chicken is so flavorful!  We loved it!

SESAME-HONEY GRILLED CHICKEN

1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon minced ginger
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon Asian chili paste
1 to 1-1/2 pounds chicken breasts -- The author used chicken wings.
1/2 cup honey
1 -1/2 teaspoons hoisin sauce
2 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
1 green onion, trimmed and chopped

In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, ginger, garlic and chili paste. Add chicken and let marinate for 15 minutes stirring often.

Set up a gas or charcoal grill for medium heat (350 to 400; you can hold your hand 5 inch above the cooking grate only 5 to 7 seconds). Put chicken on grill and cover with lid. Cook, turning often, until golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes.

In a small bowl, combine honey and hoisin sauce. Using a pastry brush, generously baste chicken with honey glaze. Cover grill with lid and cook till honey glaze starts to caramelize, about 3 minutes. Turn chicken wings over and baste again, using the remaining honey glaze. Cook 3 minutes more, being careful not to let the glaze burn, removing pieces from the grill as they're done.

Transfer to a platter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onion. Serve any remaining honey glaze on the side.

I've posted this with Foodie Friday.

My daughter made a similar dish when she was here and it was so yummy. Everyone just loved it. Anything with rice and stir-fry is always so good. Thanks Joni!

This year is so special! My fairy wants to go to school everyday and be a big girl. She is so happy. She only has 3 hours a week though.

Hi Joni,

I wouldn't even have needed a picture to know I'd like this! I'm bookmarking it now and asking my hubby to make this with me, probably this weekend. We had a grilled chicken dish tonight that came out great.

Can't wait to make this!

Oh, this looks incredible. Don't you just love chicken! I love the "Recipes from the Hood." I know we would love this and we would love the little kick too.

How cool that the author of the book connected with you. How did that happen?

Thanks so much for posting with me while I was out helping the Priests. Now on to more "fun".
