Spring Green Tablescape

Welcome to Red Couch Recipes and Tablescape Thursday.  I am also posting this to Jam Hand's new blog party Hump Day Hoorah.

In Spring, the lovely color green surprises and delights us after the dull colors of fall and winter.

I love this shade of green; I think I have three shirts of this color. The little feetie egg cups were found at a local grocery store years ago; I have five different feetie cups.

After a long hard winter, green is so soothing.  My Aunt Ionia used to take us to the restaurant Spring Green, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright near Spring Green, Wisconsin.  The two words, spring and green, fit so well together.  The restaurant is no longer in business, but the building is the Frank Lloyd Wright Center.

I made the green yarn balls for my "Grinch Tablescape" last December.  I love the green pop they add to the table.

Here's a photograph of my stack!  My engineer husband, orderly and efficient, is not fond of dish stacks; in his mind just more dishes to wash.   However, my sister Jacqueline, Purple Chocolat Home, loves dish stacks and so graciously gave me the white chargers and white salad plates a few months ago.
This is their debut; white dishes are very dreamy.  Thanks Jacqueline!  I know I will use them often!

Here's a side view.

My centerpiece is a topiary flanked by faux chocolate bunnies.  "Hey little fella, stop nibbling on the topiary!"

We used to make these yarn balls when I was a child.   All you need is yarn, paper mache paste, and a balloon.  Blow up balloons in varying sizes.  For the paper mache paste, add 3 parts water to 2 parts flour in a medium sauce pan.  Bring to a boil, making sure to get out any lumps.  Cool and then drag the yarn through the paste and apply to balloon.  If you want to add some glitz, sprinkle with glue, before drying and shake off excess glue.  My home was shining around Christmas when I made these; there was glitter all over!  Let dry from 24 to 48 hours.  When dry, pop the balloon and pull through yarn holes.

Here's my bubble glass view.

Thanks for stopping by my Spring Green Table!

PS - I've been searching all over for clear bubble glasses just like those. I can find amber, blue, green, but now clear!

Love all the white dishes with the green. I am not a fan of green, but I really like this. The "feetie cups" are just adorable! Good job!

I love your greens and whites. I like a dish stack for a tablescape, but when I'm actually using the table, I only stack dishes we are really going to use. The little egg cup is darling.

I'm glad the bleeding hearts brought back memories.

I am fond of greens and white also! Stacking dishes for a tablescape is wonderful, but I have to agree with your husband ;o) Love the yarn balls, and we used to make them too!

I remember my mom making a huge "yarn ball" to hang in the 70's and we all laughed and thought it looked like a bee hive. She was not amused. Now here I am 40 years later, and I think they are SO cool! I want to make one!

I've forgotten all about making those balls when I was younger! Awesome memory poke. Can't wait to make them when I get a change. Love your green designs and inclusion of so many yummy looking recipes. Thanks for blogging! ~CJ

I am so ready for lighter food, using my summer dishes and eating outside! If Mother Nature will just cooperate! Loved your new chargers and that cool Spring Green. I had forgotten how to make those string balls, perfect project to add some pop to summer parties too! You have the best ideas....

The white plates and chargers are so great. I think my favorite combination is white stacked with green. Your yarn balls and topiary are wonderful.

Those little footed cups are adorable. What a fun Easter touch.

Enjoy! We are on Spring Break, so no table this week (whew I can't believe I said that!)

Hi Joni, your spring table is so pretty! I have those leaf and berry plates and so does Yvonne from Stonegable--you will love them and find so many uses because they seem to go with everything! Lucky you to get them as a gift! The footed egg cups are cute and so is Mr. Bunny peeking over the green ball. I remember making those as a child at Christmas time and thinking they were so magical and delicate. They look quite sophisticated on the table! Linda

What a nice spring table. Your yarn balls add interest and I really like your bubble goblets with the "grass" shreds.

Your sister was a sweetie to gift you with those gorgeous plates! Love them. And I'm a big fan of the stack. Nice job!

I'm totally loving this one. I'm fond of spring green anyway, and green is my theme color for the year.

Love the stack! You have a great sister to give you those perfect plates and chargers. My favorite part, though, is the little footed egg cup. Didn't you have some little dishes with witch's feet at Halloween? I might be thinking of someone else. I just remember that I liked the whimsy of it, and I like these egg cups too.

What fun...I remember doing those yarn balls waaaay back in elementary school. I'm saving this idea for next year with DGD Ms. C. Her cast on her right hand would make it hard this year.

Thanks for sharing your pretty dishes & this fun idea.

fondly,
Rett

There is always a selection of darling 'Walking Ware' on eBay. I've been tempted to start collecting some of the pieces. Your 'footed' cup is darling. Wonderful chargers and new salad plates. They bring great textures and shine to your tablescape. Thank you for sharing your lovely design. Cherry Kay
